Adding Software - administrator
I have just bought a new laptop which includes Windows Vista. I am unable to get past first base in installing software on to the computer. I am listed as the Administrator and have a password yet I get a message to say administrator not logged on and a security breach. I have tried new passwords and rebooting etc but each time I try I am prevented from installing any software. I have gone into the security centre and tried to turn of this security device and failed. Can anyone tell me what to do to sort this out?
Thanks Martin

Try booting your computer in safe mode
(hit f8 after just before it starts to boot into vista & look in the menu for start in safe mode). If you get it to boot into safe mode, look to see if you can access a profile called administrator. Sometimes this account is accessible but only in safe mode depending on the manufacturer's settings & the version of vista that you have. If you can log into the administrator (called administrator) account them maybe you should be able to disable user account control. The administrator account has more rights than other administrator accounts. By the way what version of vista do you have?
