Have you ever been able to run this new install of vista? Are you trying to do a dual boot? If you have not been able to successfully run this new installation try reinstalling it. If you did not purchase an upgrade version but a full install, then do you clean install booting the computer into the disk instead of launching the installing while in XP. If this still doesn't do it you might have a bad disk that is incorrectly copying the files. Try using it on another computer or take it back to the store that you bought it from. I hope this helps.
