I have just updated my laptop to vista using the free update i got when i bought it ( got it ages ago, but havent had the time to do it!)

Did a full install, so deleted all my old files and stuff, It has moved old windows files to c:windows.old

It says i can access these files but not use them to run windows, i have created an xp restore disk incase i have any problems so i can go back to windows XP, so is it safe to delete this folder? its taking up nearly 48Gb of space which ideally id like back!

If your Vista system runs OK, then i personally would remove them.

I did a clean install of vista, and unlike some, I like it, and wouldn't go back to xp.

Will wait untill i get my files and software back on and everything is working then i will delete it.
