    vista wireless problem

I have a problem connecting to our router via wireless, I have now managed to get online.
If I try to go wireless I get a message to say that the signal is not strong enough even though I have managed to connect perfectly well with another laptop which runs XP.
The netgear router seems to find the adaptor and it shows that there is a connection to my network.
The router is a Netgear 54 Mbps ADSL Modem Wireless Router Model DG834G, and I have updated the Vista drivers via the Toshiba website for my laptop which came with Vista already installed and is an Equium 100A.

    any ideas, thanks ?

use your vista laptop and try to connecto wirelessly to the router while being only a few feet away from the router. If you can connect your vista to the router when you are very close to it, but not when you are farther away, then your new laptop that runs on vista does not have a very good wireless card. If you can not connect to router even when you are very close to the router, then you need to dig into your vista wireless card to check the settings. The good news is, you have 2 laptops. one that works, one that does not. Put them side by side. get into both of the laptop's wireless cards. compare the settings. you can use the info from the xp laptop (that works) to trouble shoot the vista wireless settings.
