My Desktop PC runs with XP Pro and I use Reg Supreme Pro for registry maintenance. Very happy with this option.
I have recently bought a laptop which comes with Vista. I loaded my Registry Supreme Pro only to find it does not work with my version of Vista (x64). I have check with Macecraft and it is not compatible.
I know you can't specifically recommend a product, but has anyone any experience with using registry cleaners for Vista and could point me in a general direction?
Thanks
I am now sure if I do have an x64 version! So to be precise the Processor is an AMD Turion (tm) 64 x2 Mobile Technology 7L-50 1.60Ghz, but the operating system is 32-bit.
It is the use of 64 and 32 which is confusing, but am I right in thinking I do NOT have Vista (x64), but a Vista 32 bit?
If I am right what guidelines would you recommend for a registry cleaner?
My apologies for any confusion.

These are just a couple. I couldn't recommend any as I don't use them.
Most new motherboards and CPU's are listed as 64 bit meaning they are capable of running 64 bit systems; as well as 32 bit.
Unless your Vista states clearly that it is 64 bit it is probably 32.
Right click My Computer and then click Properties to verify.
Or > start > run > winver
What exactly happened when you tried to use or install Registry Supreme Pro on Vista?
What was the error message and or behavior?

I do see that it is compatible with 32 bit but not 64:

First of all many thanks to both of you for getting back to me. Running My Computer>Properties indicates a 32-bit Vista OS so I guess that solves that issue!
In terms of the RegSupreme Pro 1.4 it seems to be an issue for quite a few on Macecraft's forum. The behaviour is also the same in that the software successfully finds the issues, but simply hangs when the cleaner is run.
I have raised it on their forum, but no reply as yet. I have now raised it as a technical issue, via a direct email, and a reply is promised within 2 business days. I will, of course, update this forum as soon as I have anything concrete to report.
Thanks again
I am running Vista Ultimate and I use a program called Registry Smoker 1.1 which works quite well.
Even though it does not specifically say that it supports Vista I run it in compatibilty mode for Windows XpSp2 and also as an administrator.
It has a 7 day trial option so you have nothing to lose in trying it.
You can find it here.
Hope this helpsCode:http://www.xp-smoker.com/regsmoker.html![]()
