    Buying Vista from the USA

    Hi,
    Just thinking ahead,

If I purchase a sealed retail version of Vista Home Primium, (not upgrade), from the States and bring it back with me to the UK, would it load and install OK on my PC taking into account my existing OS, XP home upgrade, is a UK version?

If it is a legal, full version, stand alonge copy, I can not think why it would not work. But, with notorious Microsoft, you never know.

    Hello Joe,

It would be a full legal retail copy but you as you say, you can't tell with MS.

I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work unless it's region locked.

    Hello Kyle,

The cheapest I have found so far for UK Vista Home primium, full version, Retail not OEM is £155, about USA $300.

My understanding is for the same product in the States, it's around the $200 mark.

    Hello Fingees,

    Thank you for your reply.

All due respect to yourself, are you sure the price of £89-00 is correct and is that for a full retail version.

I have seen the full retail version of Vista Premium for £189-00, maybe your local left a digit off, their good for that.

Computer Active may have answered my orignal question.

Apparantly Microsoft have stated that a retail copy purchased from the USA will load and work on a PC in the UK.

However MS wouldn't commit on support for the product.

When Vista was first launched, my local store had special offers.
    Vista premium at £89.

The price this week is £82 for upgrade version the local Friday ad says CD Plus licence

I actually obtained my OEM from Novatech, whose prices are still below most.
