i installed vista on my lappy do not like it nothing works so want to put it back to xp pro i put in xp disc but it asks me to verify my xp by putting in a windows me or 95 or 2000 is there any way to install this without having to get a older version

That would be an upgrade version. You need an older version of Windows to get it to go. No way around that.

You might try the Vista CD but I doubt that you can "Upgrade" from a newer system but might be worth a try.

In a worse case scenario see if you can borrow an older version CD or you can find inexpensive ones still.

I recently bought a sealed '95 for $20 USD. That is all you need but you do need it.
