Vista Upgrade Advisor

Vista Upgrade Advisor
I have Vista Business Upgrade version - no clean install available, although I'm sure the amazon.com description implies that you can. I tried it, and was informed that I had to do a windows install.
Before you attempt to install Vista, you wll need to run the Vista Upgrade Advisor which will first detect any prerequisite software required (e.g. .NET Framework 2.0). You need to download the software, and install before you can continue wth the Advisor.
It will scan your machine, and advise in three sections (system, devices, programs, with a summary task list) the state of play.
I have two main compatibility issues.
I'm informed Canon scanner Canoscan 8000f will not work with Vista and to go to Canon's website for further information.
Nero 6 Ultra Edition must be uninstalled prior to Vista installation, and I will NOT be able to re-install due to compatability issues - for more information go to Ahead's website.
I've also got another nine compatability issues (some are Microsoft programs)of varying importance, but all advise going to manufacturer's website for further information.
My other machine (a Toshiba laptop) doesn't have enough diskspace (20Gb)to run Vista - that's as far as it got.
Can't say I'm "over the moon", but I'll try again.

An update from my last post.
Vista Business Upgrade does indeed have two options - upgrade XP, or "clean" installation. Regardless of which you require, you must start the upgrade in windows XP, and as you go through the process you have a choice of clean installation or upgrade. Clean is not really clean as I found some folders from applications I had installed on the XP environment still there.
My attempt at a clean instal on my desktop went badly wrong, and I've spent most of the day trying to recover. Nothing to do with Vista. Blame the operator.
I did however install Vista and Office 2007 on my laptop, and it's working fine although it only has a 20Gb drive - Vista requires approx 15Gb.
I did have trouble trying to get the other PC to see the laptop, but that was because Vista sharing was expecting a password. Switch that off, and it's OK.
I'm now installing the applications running under XP - apart from Nero 6 which the Upgrade Advisor said would not work. I suppose the work-around will be to buy v7.
