In the chrome URL, google.com unreachable, search bar and web url in firefox lands me
in a blank page asking to retry! Other search engines work fine in both!

I don't know what you are saying.

You seem to be saying Google.com does not work in Chrome. And you seem to be saying the search bar in Firefox gets you a blank page. I don't know what you mean by web url in FF. Do you mean the address bar? And does that mean nothing works, or just Google.com?

What happens when you try Internet Explorer?

In all my browsers, including Internet explorer, Google will not load, although in all browsers gmail will load properly.

In chrome, if I use the address bar to search for something with google selected as the engine, no page will load. In other broswers, if I use the search toolbar with google selected as the search engine, I get a blank page! In general internet has slowed noticeably!

How does it behave if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking?

Have you done any scans with your anti-virus software?
Try scanning with Malware Bytes Anti Malware (free) also. If either find anything then go to the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and Malware Removal forum, read the first post and follow instructions.
