AutoCad Runtime Errors

AutoCad Runtime Errors
All of a sudden I am getting a C++ Runtime error when I try to run AutoCad 2000 on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit machine. It worked fine and works if I reinstall the program but after a short time I get the Runtime error again and the program won't run. The program runs on my XP machine and on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine. If I knew what causes Runtime Errors, I might be able to fix it. I tried WiseFixer but it didn't help.

Are you running it in XP Compatibility mode? If not try it, see what happens?
Right click on the AutoCad executable used to launch it and select Properties.
Click on the Compatibility tab.
Check Run this program in compatibility mode for:
Select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) in the drop down list.
Apply then OK.
Try it, see what happens.
I also wonder if a Windows Update is being installed that is causing the problem. Check your update history to see what gets applied after you reinstall AutoCad.

I have checked and set the compatibility but It's possible that a Windows update is causing my problem because it happens every-so-often like updates. I don't want to stop updates but I can't live with the runtime errors either. I'll monitor the updates and see if they occur just before the runtime errors. If you can think of anything else, let me know.

As I sadi, Check your update history to see what gets applied after you reinstall AutoCad.

I may have found the cause of the runtime errors. AutoCad 2000 has a feature that checks a website at startup. The feature seems to conflict with Internet Explorer 9. I reinstalled the program, disabled that feature and now I'm not getting the error. I got an operating system update today and AutoCad still works.

That's good news. Hope it continues to work for you.
