I was looking at a russian website when my antivirus lit up before I could shut the page the screen changed Stating that it was New Scotland Yard and my pc had been locked for down loading violent films and child porn and bulk e-mailing. It wanted me to pay a
£100 fine online.The reason I think that it is a virus (or what ever) is at least one spelling mistake (being "discouvered"),. As I could not do any thing not even get to my antivirus I had to go into safe mode to try the antivirus but it was shutdown and would not restart even after reinstalling it. I tried a roll back which it said worked but when I logged in all I got was a black screen and the mouse pointer. The task manager said that only 26 processes were running instead of the normal 70. I tried a rollback using the windows 7 disc still nothing. The virus even shut down my security centre so I only have the firewall running can someone please help.

That does not sound good. It surely was fake and I fear there may have been significant damage to critical files. I think you should have one of our Malware Removal experts take a look to make sure you are not still infected. Please read this then start a new topic here.

jmitcham, please start a new thread with your problem. Also provide a lot more details. Model # of laptop, operating system. When did it start happening? Did you change anything around that time? Things like that.
