    Problems installing software/programs

I've a new computer, Dell Inspiron 580 running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and I've been having a problem with installing/running software.

For example, when I try to install the software (From the CD or the software downloaded from Logitech) for my webcam, it'll run halfway, then this comes up:

It reads: An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Do you want to allow this interaction?

Whether I click "yes" or "no", it doesn't really do anything. The buttons (Such as 'Next', language options, etc.) on the installation window don't load and it remains blank like that.

This also happened to me while installing AIM, it installs but when I try to run it the same ActiveX thing comes up and it won't run.

Slightly different approach (particularly steps 4-8) for otherwise trustworthy software sources:

How to fix error An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe

STEP 8: After successfully carrying out the troubleshooting process go back to the settings and then “Disable” the active X controls option. Changing this control option is necessary because otherwise some problems in accessing the websites can occur. Its important that such steps for repair activex control are followed, otherwise website inaccessibility arising due to this issue cant be repaired. With such steps, its simple to cure the an activex control might be unsafe to interact issue.

Thereafter, you might want to proceed as follows:

Sorry, but under step 8, I don't understand exactly what I'm supposed to be troubleshooting.

Please re-read the end of my last post as I had added fix/troubleshooting details since your initial read.

I hope you were able to follow the given procedures exactly as provided, as that was one of the more reliable fixes that often should work.

Let’s document what is installed and running on your PC:

Download and install CCleaner from the following link:
    CCleaner - Standard

During installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar.

Click on Tools (ICON) and Select the following BUTTONS to create two (2) text files:
    • Uninstall > Save to text file (install) – bottom right corner of app window
    • Startup > Save to text file (startup)

Locate and open each saved file in the ‘Documents’ FOLDER:
    • Copy and paste the contents of each file into your next post (2 files).
