Hi All,
I was previously running Windows 7 on my home pc when I left a place of employment. As I had worked from home at a point in my career, the IT guy had used LogMeIn to access my home pc and set it up from a work perspective. I thought I had deleted it until a friend who is more IT proficient than I found it still running (and got rid of it). I didn't realise how paranoid my ex-employers were, but since I left, I've experienced nothing but trouble with the pc and my laptop to the point where I currently can log onto the laptop with NO rights whatsoever (so cannot even run a disc) but my main concern is the PC. I have had a tech look at it 3 times but he doesn't believe there is anyone else able to look at - because its apparently not physically possible for someone to hack onto a pc that has "remote assistance" unchecked - despite my numerous issues and seeing screens move and having saved items deleted, etc. Even today I found that remote assistance has been checked when I made sure yesterday it wasn't. . . .am I going crazy or is this possible? Also, it got so bad after I downloaded RegWorks last week that someone had control of my pc - certainly not me - and next thing I know I was stuck at a 'fatal error' where it was asking for a System Disc but not reading my repair disc. The tech was able to reboot it but he didn't ask me what I HAD been running and it's now XP instead of 7 - I bought the pc with 7 on the hard drive, no discs. Is it possible to reformat my current XP into the 7 it once was and can someone out there help me with a "hacker" who knows my pc? They seem to find "work-arounds" to MacAfee and everything else I try. . . .the IT guy was self taught and I'm guess he's bloody good.
If at all possible, I'd love to be able to get proof of what he's doing to take it further. . . any ideas?
What is the make and model number of your computer? If it came with Windows 7 then it is quite likely there is a Recovery partition on the hard drive you can use to restore it to it's factory new condition.
Note that doing this will wipe out all existing data so if there is anything there you want to keep, save it first.
