Thumbs down Can't open programs + touchpad freezes ??

    Hello !
Thank you very much for your time..

I recently downloaded PC Tools ThreatFire a few days ago whilst having avast! free.
Stumbled site claimed they could work in conjunction. Had to see it to believe it.
    It didn't.

I manually uninstalled it ever since but ever since I restarted my computer after that some problems arose:

    1. Various programs in my laptop can't run anymore.
When I click some shortcuts on my desktop an error notice appears:

    " C:/Program Files/PeerBlock/peerblock.exe
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. "

    2. Touchpad freezes.
Computer still runs just fine but touchpad almost seems like it disconnects. Can still operate through the shift keys and other key combos. Doesn't happen all the time and sometimes it goes back to normal.

    3. Firefox freezes.
Mostly when loading google and its instant search preview crap. I press enter and freezes the program. Tried reinstalling it. Didn't work.

Frustrating.. I never have problems with my computers.
Thank you very much once again !

Where you having problems before that made you want to install Threatfire? Did you install PeerBlock? I had never heard of PeerBlock before you mentioned it. It does not seem like something most users need. And sadly, I have seen many folks have problems with Threatfire.

When you say you manually uninstalled it, what do you mean? Did you go through Control Panel and Programs and Features to uninstall? Or did you just delete the folders? If you just deleted the folders, you might reinstall it, then uninstall it again through it's own uninstall program, or via the Control Panel applet.

You might also try System Restore to a point before you installed Threatfire.

Thanks a lot for replying !

No I didn't have problems before that required me to get Threatfire..

I've had PeerBlock for a while. It's just an example of a program that gets that error window.

Well, I had those said problems after getting threatfire. As a matter of fact right now just as I type this my touchpad is locked and can't move the cursor.

I used the control panel to uninstall and still had the problems. Then I searched for every bit and piece of it and manually got rid of them. Still had the problems so I got the uninstaller and used it. I still have the issues. Don't know how to system restore since I've never had to do that before. :[
Would a combofix log help ?

Combofix is used primarily for malware detection and removal and should not be used except under the guidance of a malware removal expert.
