Realtek HD Audio only plays sound when Enviroment selected
Hey guys
When I had Windows XP, sound played perfectly for me. But then I decided to go to Windows 7 x64, and that's when I had trouble with my sound.
I installed the latest drivers (Revision R2.55 from the Realtek website).
With my speakers plugged in the rear, I can only make sound come out of it if I change the Environment to something. If I have it to <None>, no sound will play through anything. However, if I click on a speaker in the Speaker Configuration tab, it will play sound. The clostest I can get the sound back to original like it was in Windows XP was to put the Enviroment to Room, but that makes everything quieter than the original.
I have a P5QL-E Mobo, Q6600, 4GB Ram, GTX260 and for the speakers, well... I'm using two seperate speakers. In the rear output, it has two speakers and a subwoofer 2.1. The model is PCL-210. The other set of speakers are some cheap £5 I got from Tesco when I really needed sound, and they're plugged in the front. They play sound fine.
Thanks
Tommy.

There are so many people with Realtek HD audio problems that it is obvious Realtek has done a lousy job with it. I hope they are listening. Of course they are going to blame Microsoft and that's fine but then they both need to get together and sort this out or motherboard makers need to select another audio solution.
In my case, I could not get sound out of my rear speakers in my 5.1 setup unless I selected 7.1 then disabled the side speakers!!???
Other, and you might try this, have had to Disable Front Panel Selection. You might also change the type of speakers selected in the manager - that is, try making them all "Full Range" speakers.
