    Windows 7 not installing

    Hey guys,

I am building a computer and I have a Gigabyte x58a-ud3r motherboard, 4GB of memory, ATI Radeon 6870 GPU and a 500GB hard drive. The problem is that the install of Windows 7 gets to a loading screen when it's configuring the registry settings and then never goes past that. I've even tried installing Ubuntu on it, to see if it would accept another OS, but the install seems to be going incredibly slow and never completes. I'm going to try downgrading the GPU to something not so high end, but I was wondering if anyone else had come across an issue like this. I recently replaced the hard drive and DVD drive, thinking it was those, but I am still at the same spot. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Manny

Remove 1/2 the ram, see what happens. If it still fails, swap the removed ram with the ram still in the system and try again.

If still no joy, check that your RAM is on the (tested) 'Memory Support List'. Some motherboards can be very unforgiving if the RAM is somehow lacking.

Are you trying to install the 32 or 64 bit version? I doubt that it'll make a difference with the install but with 4 gb of memory you need the 64 bit version otherwise windows probably won't be able to use all of it.

if your still do having problem, suggest using compatibility test, hopefully it will tell you what you're missing.

User is also having trouble with Ubuntu which means that this is hardware related. Possibly (although not likely) it might have to do with using the 32 bit version as compared to the 64 version of each system which is why I suggested that. I have no doubt that this computer is able to run 7. So since windows isn't installed how would the user run this test. Please provide a link of what you are referring to if you really want to help.

guess there is something wrong with BIOS configuration.
try using default configuration that comes with it.
