Win 7 computer will not print to new eprin printer on wireless network
I have an Acer Aspire 6930 that I upgraded to Win 7 and now have added a new HP Officejet pro 8500 a910g printer on my wireless network. I can get the printer to copy, scan, etc. but cannot get the computer to print to the printer. Keep getting and error message. I think I have an IP address issue but do not know how or what to do to correct it. My printer IP starts with 192.168 and the computer starts with IP 127

Ourview, please describe your network setup?
ISP and modem make and model
Router make and model
The printer IP of 192.168 is the right one. You computer IP will be the same I'm sure.
Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:
cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"
and press ENTER.
A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.
That will show us the actual computer IP address.

Charlie, you didn't do that command right. You must have truncated something. Copy and paste the command into the Run box exactly as shown, including all double quotes
. Make sure it's complete since that will give the info I'm looking for.
cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"
Output should look something like this:

Your IP setup looks okay, so it has to be the printer that is setup wrong. What is the error message you are getting.
Appendix D page 216(+) of the Users Guide has the instructions for setting up the Wireless Connection for the printer. It also tells you how to check the Wireless Connection.
Manual is here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02491694.pdf though I'm sure you have a hard copy.
You're best bet may be to give HP Support a call or use their live Online chat.

This problem is driving me nuts!....and making me a very old and cranky lady!!!!
I have contacted HP twice with both times them taking control of my computer to see if they could resolve the problem...to no avail. I have spent several hours each time they have worked on my problem.
Under Devices and Printers I have HP Print View and Officejet Pro 8500 A910 (FE45A7). I am getting an HP Print View message that says no supported networked HP printers were detected......Please install one of these printers and then try printing again with the HP Print View Software.
I have installed, unistalled and then reinstalled this HP software. Nothing works!
I have also researched this problem on different sites on the net and it seems it is a problem with computers that have been upgraded to Win 7. Those that have bought a computer with Win 7 already loaded have not had a problem like this.
-
That leaves one possibility then. Backup your data and do Clean Install of Windows 7. You can do this with an Upgrade disc. Not a pleasant thing to think about but it that's what it takes to get the printer working it may be worth the effort.
See here for instructions: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Rich,
Yea! After two attempts of reinstalling Win 7 I finally have my computer/printer talking to each other. What a great feeling!
However...when I did the reinstall I did do a complete back up of my computer to disks but do not know how to reistall them. I am not sure how to recover my previous settings, bookmarks, etc. since the files do not give specific names of folders. Can I just re run all of the disks to install my previous settings or will this mess up my new and working reinstall of Win 7?
