Kernel Data Inpage Error
My Gateway laptop is often crashing and shutting down due to a Kernel Data Inpage Error.
I looked at the general details in event viewer and this is what I got:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000f4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xfffffa8005ed7430, 0xfffffa8005ed7710, 0xfffff800027885d0). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 081710-17097-01.
I downloaded the windows debugging software, but not sure what to do from there, I can't open any files using it.
If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read it!

Searching Google gives lots of possible causes for this. A couple are:
1. Hard drive going bad. Download and run drive manufacturers diagnostic from their web site.
2. Defective RAM. There are two programs that are normally used to test computer memory, Memtest86+ and Microsoft Memory Diagnostic. They are available from the following locations:
Memtest86+ (Downloads are about half way down the page)
Microsoft Memory Diagnostic
They are bootable CD ISO images. You don't burn the iso file itself to CD., you create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will do this easily.
3. Hardware or software installed or removed.
If you zip and upload the memory dump I can take a look at it and see if it indicates exactly what failed. Use the paperclip icon above the text input area to upload the dump file. When that's done, close that window then click on the paper clip again and select the uploaded file.A link to it will be placed in your post.

How do I go about zipping it?
-
I zipped it and tried uploading it and got an error.
"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing."
-
Sorry but I don't know what could cause that. Maybe you could upload it to another file sharing site and post a link here.
-
Can't post links yet. Will post another post so I can then post links.

One more. Sorry for spamming

The dump says the problem was in wininet.exe which is a base Win 7 OS module so it's surely caused by something else. Unfortunately I'm having problems getting the right symbol files loaded to look at the dump so I can't get any more info yet.
Did you upgrade from Vista or is this a clean (formatted the hard drive during the install) of Windows 7.
What are you doing when the crash happens? Are you using any kind of USB device, like a camera, scanner or printer?
Try this: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7, see what that does.

I bought the laptop with Windows 7 already on it. I'm usually just surfing the internet when it happens. Sometimes have many tabs loading, or have a couple of applications running.
