    Freezing Issues

    Issue:

My computer recently (3-4 days ago) began freezing for no apparent reason. I run Windows 7 x64 bit. Everything runs normally and then out of nowhere freezes. There is no indication as to when it will freeze up. When it occurs, I usually just do a hard reboot.

    What are your temps?
Have you cleaned the interior of heat trapping dust?
    Are you overclocking?
    Any recent changes? Driver updates?

I haven't done any overclocking. My temperatures are fine, I know my fan is around 60 degrees Celsius, and I sprayed the interior of my case with compressed air last week. No recent changes either

Well, that's borderline! I get nervous when my CPU temperatures reach 60°C as stability can start to be an issue.

That is an excellent case. Does it have the full complement of fans as noted at Newegg?
    1 x 140mm rear fan
    1 x 230mm front fan
    1 x 230mm top fan
    1 x 230mm side fan
Are they running at full speed? Especially the side panel fan? Note you want good front to back air flow so your front and side fan should be drawing cool air in, and your rear and top fan should be pulling hot air out. You can try opening the side panel and blasting a desk fan in there - one that moves more air than your side panel fan.

Did you apply a proper layer of TIM?

You may need to run with just run graphics card and see how that goes, then swap it with the other. And the same with one stick of RAM.

Hi Digerati, I am having the same trouble with the wife's PC, after running for 20/30 minutes it freezes if you press the boot button for a fraction of a second it clears and will refreeze again in 20/30 minutes and you have to repeat the procedure. The spec for the PC is as follows:- Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, CPU Intel 2.4GHz Core 2 Dual Core, Core 0 temp 30deg C min, 43deg C Max - Core 1 temp 28deg C min, max 40deg C , M Board Foxconn 945 78AD, RAM 4gig.

The PC was running XP Pro 32 bit before updating it to Windows 7

Any help would be appreaciated as her indoors gets quite het up about it, and of course it is my fault
