    Missing 50GB+ space?

Hi. I recently noticed that the space on my C drive was very low so i started clearing up my c drive and after i was done i was left with 30GB free space. However the amount of space the files on the C drive is occupying is only 55GB and this is after turning on system files and hidden folders. The wierd thing is that my C drive is 140GB so :

    140 - (30+55) = 55 missing GB

    Where has this 55GB gone?

    I would appreciate any help

    -Thanks

    Go to :
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management and report what it says, or better yet, post a screen shot.

    Hi, welcome to DAL forums.

Now that we understand that you dont seem to have around 55Gb of space on your hard drive.

As you have already ran disk cleanup and you have succesfully cleared all the junk files and got around 30 Gb free space..(That is some good news).

Now please run a thorough virus scan and check if you find any files or registries infected and post a screen shot or the log file after completing the scan.

Please check in the disk management, check the number of partitions made and size of each partition.
    Start - Run - DISKMGMT.MSC (Enter)

If there is only one partition, then follow the steps below:
    1. Start - run - %temp% - Enter - Delete all the temporary files.

    2. Start - run - Prefetch - Enter - Delete all the system temporary files.

    3. Go to windows explorer - right click on the system drive and select properties - select the tools tab - Click on the first button which says "Check now" and this will schedule a CHECK DISK and will recover the bad sectors on the HDD if you have any..

    4. Go to windows explorer - right click on the operating system drive and select properties and then select tools tab and then select DEFRAGMENT NOW. This will defragment your HDD.

Reply back with some positive results if you find any..

I use ccleaner for this kind of task.
it will clean all temporary files used by your system and its applications.

just do not know if ccleaner is recommended here.
