    system configuration data read error

Hi i recently had a problem with my laptop which on getting to the first screen showing AMD Turion badge would not go any further. After talking to a friend they suggested it was probably the ram, so i got some new ram today. After installing it , it now goes to the next screen checks the system and then comes up with
    System configuration Data updated
    ERROR
    System configuration Data Read error

Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to setup .

F1 does nothing F2 goes to bios and thats it.

Any help really appreciated, pulling my hair out what hair i have.

That's normal when you change the amount of memory (RAM) in a computer. Press F2 then do whatever is required to save the changes. F10 or selecting Save changes then exit, etc.

If there is a problem with the new memory then you could stay in this loop forever, so if saving doesn't help, then remove the new memory and put the old memory back and try see if that works. If yes, verify the new memory is the right kind then try again.

Thanks for reply, went into the bios and saved the changes but same thing happens. When i try the old memeory now just get black screen and nothing. Been trying most of the day different ideas, took the motherboard battery out to check bios and 2 extra errors came up. After research looks like normal ones , because when put battery back in they disappeared. Just get the same thing as started with.
Is there a particuliar thing i should be changing in the bios to accomadate this as it is straight swap 2 gig for 2 gig.
    Thanks for help again.

You can try loading defaults in BIOS. How you do so will depend on what BIOS you have. It's often F5 or F9 or words like Load Default Settings. Do that, then save and reboot.

Are you sure you are seating the memory correctly. On a laptop, they have to sort of snap in and be held correctly by the retaining bracket.

Also, if there are two sticks of ram, try it with just one. If no good, try the other.

Thanks for reply yes sure snapped in keep taking out and reseating in case works but no luck.
I have 2 ram modules but the opld one is shot i think thats why have been trying the new one with this result. Tried the bios loads of times loading defaults but same thing. No difference at all thinking the ram maybe wrong or faulty. Had to phone the medion so called customer help to find out the exact type as my model not on the crucial website but sure i have the right one. Going to try the local pc shop tomorrow with some other ram and hope its faulty.
    Thanks again for ideas.

Unfortunately this is nothing to do with BIOS but caused by physical motherboard malfunction (generally a broken south bridge).
