For the past 4 hours all I can manage is black screen white curser on boot up, curser moves freely.I can get no other screen on my desktop computer. I have tried all ways that I know. Tried safe mode, safe mode networking starting windows normally but all hang up at the same point. I have tried my windows 7 disc by going to repair but again no luck. The only thing i think that happened was an external H/D was connected, when disconnecting safety removal was not used, is this the problem ? i'm trying to remember but i think this happened once before and the computer would not load.

Any Ideas greatly appreciated.

When you tried to boot to Safe Mode, did you get a screen where you could select which account you wanted to login with? If so does Administrator show up there and if yes, select it and try to login that way.

Can't boot in safe mode it gives me the option but just hangs when you try to use that option. i do not get as far as option to choose an account. I belive it was caused by unplugging a digital camera from my usb port without using safety remove I think it still thinks it is plugged in and won't boot for some reason.

Anyone any more ideas?

Can you get to the Startup Repair selection: How to Run a Startup Repair in Windows 7

When you try safe mode does it start to list files? If so what is the last one listed when it locks up?
