    blu-ray discs not working

    Hi

I have been using a Dell Studio XPS laptop with Windows 7 64 bit since August and it's been working great. Just recently I've noticed that the blu-ray drive is not able to play blu-ray discs anymore.

DVDs and CDs aren't a problem but when try using Power DVD for blu-ray nothing happens. When I try it on VLC I get an error message. When I try it on WMP nothing happens.

    Any ideas?

As we know that Blu-Ray is a patented technology so it requires appropriate codecs to be purchased and hence we cannot include it in our Operating System.

To play a Blu-ray Disc, you need to use a non-Microsoft program that supports Blu-ray playback and a device capable of reading Blu-ray Discs.

Unfortunately you cannot play BluRay discs Windows Media Player on Windows 7 it is so by design, it is because of some codecs. You can try using some third party players and check if you can play the BluRay discs.

Ensure that you enjoy the best Blu-ray Disc experience possible by testing your system and understanding the basics as to what this exciting disc format has to offer. This site provides the tools and information you need to get started. First download the CyberLink BD Advisor to test that your PC is ready to play Blu-ray Disc content. You'll receive suggestions as to how to upgrade your system if needed.
