I have just bought a compac laptop, want to connect my hp printer to it, when i put the disc in it lets me go so far then says i must be the systems administrater i log on to my laptop as an administrater, so dont understand the porblem. can anyone help?

When the install window opens, close it. Open Computer and browse to the CD/DVD drive. Right click on the installation program, possibly setup.exe and select Run as Administrator.

I had the same difficulty. I found a solution. Logically it makes no sense to me, but it worked so.Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer. Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name ie. My computer's name is basement and the printer name is EpsonSty so I typed in \\basement\epsonsty
