I recently built my own computer after being stuck with the same ancient one for ages,
ASUS A8N32 motherboard
3 Gig DDR2 RAM
Nvidia 8400 Grapics Card
250 Gig Sata HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
I managed to get hold of a A8N32 motherboard however both onboard ethernet sockets are damaged beyond repair so i bought a Realtek 10/100/1000 ethernet card. I set this computer up at my dads and it was working fine with no issues what so ever. However when i got back home i hooked it up and discovered for some reason i have no internet connectivity. After much tampering i managed to get myself an internet connection, however it only worked if i didnt try to connect to a webpage. I have tried everything i can think of to give myself internet and being CISCO qualified i mean a lot, however im now stumped, ive tried everything i can think of from shorting the motherboard to reinstalling windows 7 on my current network, i even got a new ethernet cable and a DLINK ethernet adapter thinking that could be the problem but again no change.
Has anybody got any ideas because im stumped, my dad is stumped and so is my step dad
Thanks
Daryl

I don't know how you can connect to the Internet without connecting to a webpage. Do you mean you can connect to your network, but not the Internet? Do other computers in the house connect to the Internet? After much tampering i managed to get myself an internet connection, however it only worked if i didnt try to connect to a webpage.
By shorting the motherboard, do you mean you reset the CMOS by shorting the battery jumper?ive tried everything i can think of from shorting the motherboard to reinstalling windows 7 on my current network
Windows does not install on a network. What do you mean here?
1) I mean that if i stay idle on the computer it says i have a connection to the internet, however as soon as i open up my browser or msn the internet dies and cuts me off. Every other computer in the house is running fine its just my new one
2) Yeah it resets the time and date and releases any settings stored on my board
3) if you have an Ethernet cable plugged in whilst installing windows it detects it and ask you to configure whether it is home, public or business
Perhaps there is more damage to the ASUS board than the onboard NIC? If this was my computer, I'd replace the mother board and start over.
Yeah, I was thinking that too. Can you see the other computers on your network okay?
Ah. Well that does not install Windows on the network, it sets up your security for the type of network you are connecting to. Understand before you connect to the Internet, you must first connect to a network that has access to the Internet - even if only a network of one.3) if you have an Ethernet cable plugged in whilst installing windows it detects it and ask you to configure whether it is home, public or business
