Vista->Win7 upgrade hurts Rome Total War

Running on a Dell Inspiron 1520, I upgraded from Vista to Win7.

Everything is better, except RTW, my fav game, now has a flickering screen.

Any ideas for a hardware n00b?

Do you have the latest driver for your video chipset? There are not Windows 7 specific drivers on the Dell site, but there is a Vista driver. Perhaps it is newer than what you currently have installed:

See here: Drivers & Downloads for Inspiron 1520

Otherwise, click on Start then Run, type msinfo32 and press Enter.
Expand Components then click on Display.

Use the info shown there to search for a Windows 7 driver. If you have problems, post here and I'll see if I or one of the other techs can help.

From what I can see, your laptop has the Mobile Intel Express (GM 965 or PM 965) so you will need the GM965 Express Chipset Family.

    Many thanks for the advice.

Can't try that at the moment - more serious things than flickering on a game have cropped up!

I'll try your advice as soon as I can, and post back (hopefully to tell of success!)
