In most cases it is an automatic "switch-over".

Have you tried calling your ISP support?

If there are no drivers, there are no drivers. Windows 7 was not designed to support legacy hardware.

If you cannot connect to the internet via your ISP they are the first people you should contact.

They can run tests and offer advice that you deserve as you are a paying customer.

All be it you will probably be talking to someone in India they will do their best to ensure it is not an ISP issue.

If they find no issue then you can start questioning your computer in particular.

you have absolutely no idea what my problem is do you!?...... ok my problem isnt that i cant connect to the internet i cant even get the computer to recognize the ethernet cord because i just installed windows 7 and they dont have an updated LAN driver for my old computer! i wanted to see if there is another way....... this has nothing to do with my internet there is nothing wrong with my internet in fact i am on the internet right now so there is no reason for me to call them when they wont even be able to see that there is another computer connected to my router!

I have some idea and a lot of patience and civility.

Now that you mention a router perhaps that is the issue.

What is your exact setup and hardware?

You may need to reconfigure your router or modem or router/modem if they are a combo unit.

More hardware details please and less attitude.

Also just to add you need to install Windows on the motherboard that will run it.

You cannot just swap out hard drives.

........... no the computer i am on right now is the exact same computer that i have the other hard drive connected to so therefore it is not my router or my modem or my internet. your later response about the motherboard is what i was looking for now to my next question is there anything else i can do? or do i have to wait for the driver to come out. right now i am using XP i can use vista but i choose not to because i dont like it i already have windows 7 installed on the other hard drive everything else works there is absolutely no problems i just need to find a driver so i can get internet.. the reason i have an attitude is because ive been working on this since it came out and if i just wasted all that money and it wont work im going to seriously be pissed and i apologize for this im just really really frustrated
