My machine ( NOT THIS ONE ) has dual boot. Vista Home Premium and Windows 7.

Yesterday evening - 29th October - I put the computer into 'sleep' mode. Keyboard 'sleep'.
The monitor screen darkened, but computer did not stop running. After waiting a while for it to shut dowmn I finally turned it off with the rear switch on the computer.

Today, on attempting to start the computer, the machine runs but nothing at all appears on the monitor screen.

Yesterday all was well and working fine. All connections are intact, and there is power to the monitor.

I just don't know where to start looking for whatever fault there is.

I'm just pleased that I have this second (XP) computer to work with. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Start by swapping monitors with another computer to see if the problem follows your monitor, or stays with the machine.
