Thats a good deal considering that an upgrade license for home premium is 120 USD.

The HomeGroup function is powerful. I think it is convenient for home use. Great function!
But I think there is not very much difference with Vista. But Windows 7 occupys less storage

I just found out that the upgrade license applies only to Vista & XP. If you have any other version you will have to buy a full license. Something to think in mind if you are thinking of doing an upgrade. I saw this on the MS website on the purchase page.

I like the idea of a Family Pack. We have three home computers. Two run Vista Home and one Vista Ultimate. I have two questions.

I understand that in order to upgrade my Vista Ultimate computer to Win 7 Home I will have to do a clean install. Which is a pain. I think I've only done it once before. Are there online instructions for this.

The programs are being released later this month and the announcement of Win 7 family Pack says they will be available as long as the supply lasts. This would indicate that I should move fast if I want to buy the product. I usually wait a few months before upgrading to a new operating system. Let them get the bugs out . . .

To take advantage of this offer I guess I may have to move fast. Where should I buy Win 7 family pack?? I want a hard copy with discs. I checked Amazon and they don't have it listed.

Windows 7 Family Pack available for pre-order early online

Thats all I can find on it. It doesn't look like it will be available until the 22nd.

They (Microsoft) should run a family pack for 5 computers, with the option of mix and match operating systems.

I have pre-ordered Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit (Full E) and Windows 7 Professional Upgrade 32 - bit academic.

I could also then have ordered a Home Premium for my daughters PC.

Only other family pack source is here that I know of.

I paid £39 for the upgrade delivery, via here & I pre-ordered the Full 64 - bit Windows 7 Professional E version from amazon for £89.97 from amazon.co.uk on pre-order.

Now, the thought installing Win 7 on our three computers has me very nervous. It is my understanding that a clean is the best way to go. The thought of three clean installs means many hours and problems. I'm no techie and I have drivers and incompatibilities buzzing in my head.

I'll have to give this upgrade idea some more thought.

Most of my Vista drivers also worked on 7. The only exception was for my sound card. I think that the driver situation is better now for 7 than it was for Vista when it first came out. You do have the aspect of installation time though.

With 7 you can only update from the same version of Vista. I think that a clean install is a better idea anyway. BTW that 3 pack is an upgrade license which means that you have to have a legal serial number for XP or Vista first (More info). I'll be upgrading a full license of Vista Business to 7 pro. I don't know how that will work but I'll have to do a clean install because I'm not replacing Vista and I already have the 7 RC on my computer. The only other upgrade license that I have done was from Vista business to ultimate & when I did that I already had Vista business on my computer.

Yes I had problems going from XP to Vista with my sound card which was a Creative sound blaster, I waited for 3 months for drivers and then I changed to a Auzen X-Meridian who had drivers, but had no trouble migrating from Vista to Windows 7.
