Windows 7 Taskbar with small icons

Anyone else notice that the button size on the TaskBar Quick Launch area in W7 remains the same when you switch to small icons? This looks real ugly as it leaves a lot of space between icons, not allowing you to reclaim it for other uses.

The Quick Launch which is by default disabled is covered here:

I think that is to allow for "overlays" - for when you have multiple instances a program running - a new way to group. It is illustrated with IE here. I suspect there will be a power toy or registry tweak soon for minor adjustments to horizontal icon spacing, width or something soon.

If you scroll down on that page, you will note for programs that provide "progress", the button turns into a status meter. Kinda of cool, I think.

Interesting article. I need to be sitting in front of my W7 install to understand it, but lots of good info, thanks.
