re: Windows 7 & Beyond - Random discussion

The hard drive is screwed into the bay from both sides. .... It is a conpaq though but this is the worst designed one I've seen. I've only been able to remove the side panel & the front.
What is the exact model number of the Compaq? Is there a Service Tag number?

Even though it appears that the other side panel is riveted on, with some enclosures a release can be found under the top cover, or behind a rear enclosure cover (if one exists). I find it unlikely that the drive bay or side panel would have to have rivets drilled out in order to perform service or parts replacement.

How large does it install at?

From jephree's post # 65: 16 GB of available disk space

Presario 6024US & I can't tell about a tag number. I'm getting most of my info about it from pcwizard. I don't have the manual or anything else but its keyboard/mouse. I have been unable to find any kind of release like I've seen in other computers. I know it doesn't make sense. Like I've said, I can't find any vista drivers so I probably won't use this but I don't want to buy another computer in order to have something to use to test 7.

This illustrates some different methods of securing 5.25" drives in the enclosure(s). Does this apply to your machine?: Adding or Replacing a CD or DVD Drive

The required specs have been posted a couple times above.

Thanks for finding the illustration but I discovered that the computer does have a DVD rom, however I don't think I can use the computer because there are no chipset drivers for vista which, I was told, I'd have to use. I'd also have to replace the graphics card. I'm not going to to anything for now but thanks for your input.

Also, as stated previously, chipset drivers are not an issue.

The install adopts drivers from either XP or Vista.

As to a graphics driver for nVIDIA it is in the first Windows Update.

Certainly no need here for any "driver hysteria" or rumors.

Captain One Ninja I have not yet left my underworld for hers but I long to.

I was deep in the Anniversary when I acquired both Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead which consumed me through the autumnal months.

Perhaps as the present chill lifts off the shores of Paradise I might find the graces of our Lady.
Well this is what you're missing

And more Crysis goodness with tweaked DX10 settings. Consistent fps over 35:

Scripts have been written, but The One Ninja is looking for recording space.
