That 's what is supposed to happen, and that is what appears is happening for beta adapters. I would assume the final release will be just as good, if not better. My assumption... ...is a system that runs Vista will run the 7 Beta.

anyway, i dont know why everyone hates vista so much, ive been using it for almost 2 years now, and my hardware works fine.. companies like epson have released drivers for vista for everything, even old beige printers and scanners for win 98 :|
anyway, enough of my love for vista![]()
And then the very next day, Microsoft: We haven't announced a netbook version of Windows 7 - Computerworld BlogsThey don't. The vast majority of Vista users like it very much. It is just that those that don't like it tend to be very vocal.anyway, i dont know why everyone hates vista so much...
I have downloaded and installed the Beta version of Windows 7. over Vista so as to keep my old stuff available.
I can use it until Agust 1st.
Initially, I like what I see, but will have to use it foe a couple of weeks or so to pass any opinion.

Of course many advanced features such as touch technology will require new hardware.
Also DirectX 11 will require the latest cards to utilize it fully.
As to my own test I have loaded Crysis on my 7 drive and will try it out tonight and let you know what I find.

You know what Vista needed? The ability to resize and move your selected desktop wallpaper and then applying it.
Hey, for those of you that's running Win Vista/XP but is interested in Win7's shortcuts, I found one online!
It's from Lifehacker so it's trustworthy. Though it didn't really perform all that well on my computer. Probably because my computer's a little bit whacked up.
Windows 7: Windows 7 Shortcuts Enables the Best Win7 Shortcuts in XP or Vista
Brief update. I had originally posted that Windows 7 adopted my XP nVIDIA drivers and apparently it had. After some initial disappointment in games such as Crysis I realized that there was a driver for Windows 7 that I had overlooked. It did take a bit of work to get it installed via removing the old driver etc. and a few failed attempts at install but finally I got the proper driver which also brought up and initialized my SLi in Windows 7.
Everything looks pretty amazing. In Crysis, for example, the XP install did not allow the "Very High" graphics settings which were supposedly aimed at DirectX 10. I had under XP re-written the config file with the Vista one and was able to up the settings that way but still I did not have DirectX 10. Windows 7 has DirectX 11 which incorporates 10 and then goes beyond.
So my armature analysis is Crysis looks much better and I am assuming this is a result mainly of Direct X.

Jeph, post a couple in-game screenshots of Crysis. I'm curious to see what DX11 could be rendering better.
These are on Vista x64, all settings on very high, DX10:

Q6600 and the 55nm GTX 260 216SP just arrived today, so I cranked up DX10 on Crysis and Warhead and it's smooth as silk. On my 8800GT I had a customized cfg for both games to make it look like DX10 without the performance hit.
PS. Anyone know what the differences are between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Crysis? Both offer the same performance.
