Hello, I want to configure my website email contact link to outlook express.
I have contacted my hosting and isp and have all the data neccessary.
Yet neither my webhost nor my isp can help me configure the two...
Does anyone out there know how to do this?
Thanks
Assuming you have already setup your email account with your host....
You will need the correct pop3 and smtp addresses, usually pop3.your-domain-name.com and smtp.your-domain-name.com and you will need you user name and password for that specific email account.
1. In Outlook Express select Tools > Accounts
2. Choose the account name, this will be the "From" label on all your emails
Click Next >
3. Enter your email address for this email account
Click Next >
4. Enter in the correct pop3 and smtp addresses as provided by your host
Click Next >
5. Enter the user name and password associated with this email account
Click Next >
6. Click Finish

If you are having trouble receiving or sending emails in Outlook Express and get errors it could be that the security settings for the account are set incorrectly.
1. In Outlook Express go to Tools > Accounts
2. Click on the Account and then click Properties
3. Click the Servers Tab and then try changing the security settings

Hey, thanks for answering!
Ok, your answers are great and it's straight forward, yet here's a more detailed description of my problem...Also, I'm using Outlook 2007 since it somehow decided to
work. Initially, it didn't have a 'send email' option. Now it does...go figure.
By the way, all your instructions on Outlook Express I followed and nada...
On my site, I practiced the procedure just as you instructed.
Using myname@domain.com for link etc.
So on Outlook Express did exactly as instructed...went back to site and attempted to email...
Now Outlook Express comes up with 'sent to
xxxx@verizon.net shown in email box.
So I contacted Verizon...now Frontier to double check data info...they say I need to contact my hosting company and get this straightened out...
Frontier gave me the following...
username xxxxxxxx
password xxxxxxxxx
incoming pop3.frontier.com
outgoing smtp.frontier.com
We checked the username and password by logging into
webmail.ncnetwork.net to the Verizon logon page and its OK.
So when I try to manually set this up as per your instructions, I just receive error messages.
And they told me its on the hosting end...so after all my shuffling around and trying to figure this
out, here I am kind-of-stuck?
What do you think? And thanks in advance for any assistance...
This is the info my hosting company sent me.
POP & SMTP server: mail.mydomain.com
POP Port 110, SMTP port 25
SMTP requires authentication, use same info as POP.
.................................................. ..........
Bottom line...On my site my link reads contact me.
My link is myname@mydomain.com
When anyone clicks on that link to email me, Outlook should open with 'to' box
reading myname@mydomain.com and be able to send me an email.
I've set up a mailbox on my hosting site so accordingly, this should work.
Yet something isn't set right.
And I can't seem to get a straight answer from hosting.
Also, using the Outlook 2007 email client is relatively about the same as the
info you helped me with earlier...
So I'm kind of stumped here...any ideas? And thanks so much for your time.
This is just a frustrating issue that I shouldn't be having.
P.S. Verizon does allow me to use a private SMTP server. Any suggestions?
And thanks in advance.
Hey,
Couple of quesitons...
You mentioned before you were using Outlook Express but now your using Outlook 2007, does this work in Outlook Express? Can you try getting it working there using my instructions?
You said when you try to send an email you get an error, can you copy/paste that here?
Ok, on Outlook Express , I receive theses error messages.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.bestdamninfo.com', Server: 'mail.bestdamninfo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
And thats as far as I get. Same with Outlook 2007.
Hi,
Ok can you take a look here, the error code is mentioned in this article. It is probably better than me trying to get you to list every single setting you have saved.
Hey, I workin' on this so I'll be in touch...thanks
Hey,
I have hidden your last post as it had personal account info which we recommend you do not post on a public forum like this.
Looking over what you had listed, try editing the server paths from:
toacct type: pop 3
incoming mail server: mail.bestdamninfo.com
outgoing mail server(smtp): mail.bestdamninfo.com
acct type: pop 3
incoming mail server: pop3.bestdamninfo.com
outgoing mail server(smtp): smtp.bestdamninfo.com
Hey, thanks for the heads-up on the 'personal acct info' I displayed. I appreciate that!
Ok, I edited the server paths as you suggested...to no avail. Even tried various combinations (again) yet same errors...
You know, you'd think this would be something that shouldn't be this much of a hassle.
Because I imagine people set up these things all the time...any suggestions? And Thanks![]()
