    place holders

I realise this problem comes up time after time but looking back and using the tips has not solved my problem.

I have Windows XP Home with SP2 and IE7. I also have AVG Free and Zone Alarm.

I have made a web site from scratch using HTML and it has worked beautifully for the last 6 years - updated frequently with no problem. I have now decided to put a counter on to the site. I have used the one provided by my ISP (Waitrose) and all I get is the inevitable little red cross. I have had considerable correspondence with Waitrose who have tried to help but now it seems they have come to the end of ideas. I have stopped both anti-virus and firewall as suggested but no change. I have also made sure that "show pictures" is ticked in IE and also that security is at Medium.

Following all this I downloaded another type of counter but have the same problems. I am obviously doing somethin radically wrong please can anyone help.

can I see the counter code? It's also a must, when building websites, to test in other browsers. Have you checked it in FireFox for example?

Thanks Happy Beaver but I am feeing a complete idiot. Waitrose came back again (I thought they'd given up on me) and had looked at my web site and concluded that the index page had been saved incorrectly. I re-loaded the counter info (yet again, I had already done so several times) and saved it (this time adding .html, which of course I should have done in the first place, and Bingo all is up and running. I'll never make that mistake again. Thanks for your offer of help.
