    adding mp4 to my website

i've got this mp4 video and i want to upload it and run it on my website....

is mp4 a web friendly file type? or do i need to convert this to some other video file format?

also, the video was recorded with the camera lying horizontally (90 degrees - the person recorded is standing horizontal on the screen).. how can i make the video appear or play vertical?

You can use a video editing program to rotate the movie but the quality is affected when doing so... from personal experience

As for running the movie on your website, the best way if your short on space/bandwidth is to let www.youtube.com absorb those costs Upload your movie there and add it to your website

Tackle the Web with $5.99 .COM's from Go Daddy!
If you do not want to use Youtube, you can convert your mp4 video to FLV format by using any video converter. One freeware video converter I know is called SUPER, which does the job perfectly.

After that you can use a "web flv player" to host the video on your own website. But as HappyBeaver pointed out, this may eat up your bandwidth depending on how big is your video file.
