Very much a newbie in web design.
I have added an image to my site - I can see it on 4 separate computers but an advertiser cannot see image on his computer.
Page: http://www.getawayqueensland.com.au/...oundra/fp.html
I cannot understand why he cannot view image.
I have got him to:
Verify that Show Pictures has not been turned off in Internet Explorer:
a. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
b. Click the Advanced tab, and then verify that the Show Pictures check box is selected under Multimedia.
c. Click OK.
OR
Make sure scripting, ActiveX controls, cookies, and Java applets are enabled in Internet Explorer. To do so, follow these steps:
a. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
b. Click the Security tab, and then click Default Level (if it is available) for the zone which contains the Web page (for example, Internet).
c. If you are using Internet Explorer 6, click the Privacy tab, and then click Default (if it is available).
Also Refresh screen.
Is there something in the design I have mucked up.
You help is greatly appreciated.
First time I have ever entered a forum.
What exactly is not showing? I see everything but if I click Advertise at the bottom I get an immediate: HTTP 404 - File not found
Is this what you are referring to?

I am able to view the image.
But cannot understand why he can not see it.
He was not able to receive a PDF I sent him either. Is it something in his settings?
Or is there an error in the page.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Is that the only problem on the page for him/her?
Perhaps try Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > HTTP > Use HTTP 1.1
Also are you using (and is he/she) .NET Framework 2.0?
Yes it is the only problem.
I will get him to check internet options.....HTTP1.1
I am going to ask a silly question but what is the .NET Framework, is it installed or should I have it installed on my computer.
Can I download this and what does it do?
Thanks for helping - much appreciated

I am probably more of a novice in this field than you.
I checked the properties of that image and saw the HTTP association.
As to .NET Framework all I know is that it is a framework for site developers.
The latest version is 2.0 and it is found in everyone's Window's Update.
Again I do not know the details here, (just trying to help in the moment), but if a site was developed with 2.0 then 2.0 might need to be installed in order to view it. Here are some links to browse:

Hopefully another one of our members will wake up soon and offer more precise ideas.![]()
Tell him to allow this site in his firewall or any other security he has running![]()
Thanks for your help I will tell him to do this![]()
Further to Jephree's comments, your advertiser shouldn't need the Microsoft .NET Framework do be able to view the web site, even if you used a .NET application or technology such as ASP.NET when you developed it.
The Microsoft .NET Framework is indeed difficult to describe. It's a relatively new Microsoft technology that acts as a platform for programs to be developed on, keeping them separate from the Windows installation. The idea is that .NET applications are installed completely into their own directory and, therefore, shared files do not get put into the Windows directories and potentially conflict with other applications that want to use different versions of the same shared files. This makes applications much more stable. The latest production version is .NET Framework 1.1 but a lot of people are already trying out .NET Framework 2.0 Beta.
I think HappyBeaver is probably thinking along the right lines - if they cannot get hold of a PDF file that you have sent them either, then it sounds like they have some over-zealous security settings that are blocking certain things.
