    CSS giving me another headache

I wanted to create a fairly simple site of only a few pages for a friend. It is rapidly turning into a nightmare because of CSS.

I only wanted to use CSS for a drop down hover menu. I have had to compromise the design because I cannot get the buttons to fit exactly in both IE and Firefox. All sorts of weird things happen. Perhaps the CSS I have used is just too complicated.

The annoying thing is that having got the design together I was about to start adding the text to the pages. The first page I had trouble with was the Dates & Prices page:

    http://www.hub-uk.com/relish/pages/dates&prices.htm

Firstly there is no space between the paragraphs and whilst I suspect my CSS is affecting it I don’t know how and then when I went to indent it using <blockquote> it does not happen.

    The home page is http://www.hub-uk.com/relish/index.html

It seems most HTML commands are not working.

When I finally started implement the redesign of www.hub-uk.com (for reasons I won’t go into now) I went with a traditional table layout just using CSS to make the menu work. That is a vertical one and I don’t have the same problem.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

There no longer seems to be the number of experts around on the internet anymore to give advice at times like this. Where did they all go or did they just get bored and fed up helping us idiots?

    Hi Hubuk,

I took a look at your links but couldn't see any pages at all. They were 404-ed. I won't be that much of help with CSS since I've never learned it either and am just using the good old trial and error method, but how exactly are you running your site? Without a CMS at all? (Read from other thread).

What I've found to help me is to get basic layouts from other sites and compare my CSS with theirs, and then copy + paste and tweak it to my heart's extent.

However, I'm using Wordpress as my CMS and I've not really played with CSS other than wordpress-related ones or Blogger related ones.

Here's my site if you wish to see what I have right now.

Is there something in specific that you wish help with? I'm a little bit lost after reading your posts.

Btw, creating multiple threads on the forum is usually frowned upon. Might want to be a little bit cautious with that.

Oh gosh what a mistake I made, it was the Clarence456 message that alerted me to this thread and I didn't check properly. Thanks for the heads up Towns.

Yep. I guess some people start out by posting where ever they find an interesting post & don't even look at the date. BTW happy 1000th post.

Ahahahahah. Yes that'd be me! I check "New Posts" and when I see something I might be able to help with I jump in. Golly I feel so silly now.

Thanks! I didn't notice it myself =) Btw dropped you a profile message so that we don't off-topic revive this thread.

Yep, thats what I do. New posts. Sometimes unanswered posts but I don't ever really browse the forums. There is too much there.

Tackle the Web with $5.99 .COM's from Go Daddy!
You are walking a fine line between advertising (which is against our terms of service & will get you banned) and sharing information. With 6 posts on the same websites it looks to me more like you are advertising. If I where you I would refrain from posting that again or they might decide to ban you.
