Any one know a simple way of creating a transparent background to an image using GIMP2 or rahman imager? I've never used layers properly before, so a quick intro would be useful.

Sorry don't use either of them...don't have access to anything else?

A little tip here.. it is never a good idea to make a completely transparrent gif - it will look very jagged. Always match the background of your webpage... I can give you a great tutorial for photoshop if you prefer
