    Online designer products

Im interested in finding out if any of you use web designers that are online like a site builder type product. Or wether you use software like frontpage or dreamweaver.
What percentage of the public do you feel would need an easy online designer?

Nobody I know uses those kind of services, just Frontpage or Dreamweaver.

You may think me quite backward D-A-L but I like to use notepad! Yes, notepad - a very safe, secure path to create sites - I know that everything I put in will be compatible with all browsers, and using decent image editing packages as well the quality of the sites can be as good as with Dreamweaver.

    Or maybe I'm just a nerd :-)

Personally I make a funky graphics based site in photoshop or fireworks then export the images and HTML, put links etc together in frontpage and hey presto a good lookin website

I've always found frontpage generated sites to be very messy code-wise and difficult to debug.

Good point Probably the cleanest way possible to produce web pages.

clean AND efficient, no code is put in that you don't want, every tag can be tested against every interpreter (IE, netscape, mozilla etc.) and they're invariably quick to load - no excess code anywhere. and you can comment on the code easily for debugging.

Yep, the difference is a few years back that's how many people learnt and a lot of the ones who did still use it. Now many people skip learning the fundamentals and use DW and FP because it does all the work for them. Unfrotunately your left with bloated and uneccassary code though.

mind you you can go through the code after creating the site on FP or DW and clean it up.

Tackle the Web with $5.99 .COM's from Go Daddy!
but with the way fp and dw write the code you spend more time cleaning it up than actually designing the site, unless the page is very complex graphically - which the best sites aren't, then it's just not worth the hassle, just code it from scratch.
