We've just bought a new Compaq presario CQ61 laptop. I was on the internet and felt the screen was too bright, I used the f7 key to, what i thought would, make the screen less dull, as it has a sun type symbol on it with a down arrow. Instead it has magnified the internet screen, all other screens on the laptop are normal size. I would much appreciate any help with this.

Check your manual. You might also hold down the Fn key, the press the + or - keys.

If everything else on the laptop looks normal but your web browser (such as Internet Explorer) that you use for viewing web sites now appears magnified, it sounds like you've just changed the web browser's zoom control. I suspect that using the F7 key to turn down the brightness is not related and that, instead, you changed the zoom control completely by accident and without realising. In Internet Explorer, there is a zoom setting right down in the bottom-right corner of the browser screen. It should say "100%" so, if yours says "200%" or something like that, just click on it and choose a lower setting.
