What are the risks when downloading videos from youtube?
Since YouTube like sites (but not dailymotion.com, it streams (meaning: not cached) every time whether one replays or not. I've also heard, one cannot actually download Dailymotion videos because one would get error after 99% every time! (note: I didn't include sites like keepvid.com (particularly keepvid.com though it is considered safe (some are suffering and many are not) by many including site advisories (!) like McAfee SiteAdvisor, Web Of Trust, PC Tools Browser Defender, Norton Safe Web, Google Safe Browsing etc.) because they cause a critical vulnerability (detected by Kaspersky Internet Security and there was no vulnerability before downloading/after updating) in Adobe Flash Player (which was already up to date) and as a consequence, pixelates videos one has watched (after the incident) and online pictures after sometime (one of my friend's experience). The only solution is to update Adobe Flash Player and one can't even play the videos watched after the incident because they serve as 'parasite hosts' (biology); serve as habitats and spread to more cells (in this case, videos! But online pictures become normal after updating fortunately. Meaning: No such 'hosts'). Yeah, there are differences, e.g. it does not 'reproduce' as other organisms (living or not e.g. viruses (biology)). I meant directly downloading, e.g. directly from Opera browser. If Dailymotion can do like that, why can't YouTube? They are just not against downloading that much I think!
) actually 'download' while streaming (this is why one can actually 'replay' once cached), can they differentiate users (not logged in and not using multi-segments while downloading, my friends have checked, it takes nearly same time to stream and to download!) downloading and users watching without downloading? Will they sue like what they are doing regarding P2P (I've also heard that they are also gonna take severe actions in non-P2P file hosting/sharing sites like MediaFire, RapidShare, MegaUpload, etc.) if one downloads YouTube videos? I didn't see anyone sued for downloading YouTube videos. In fact, that Video (note!) DownloadHelper addon is one of the hand picked 'recommended' (yeah, though they 'recommend' few addons (e.g. DownThemAll!), you can see only a few 'recommended' in that 'recommended list' !) Mozilla Firefox addon, used by many (downloaded 54,543,319 times and rated 2,196 times). URL: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/recommended
It's official website says like this: "With some exceptions, downloaded videos must be kept on your disk for personal use and are not to be shown on other websites." for personal use.... But how come you can download if downloading itself is against TOS?!
From YouTube TOS (http://www.youtube.com/t/terms): "Content on the Website is provided to you AS IS for your information and personal use only and may not be downloaded, copied, reproduced, distributed, transmitted, broadcast, displayed, sold, licensed, or otherwise exploited for any other purposes whatsoever without the prior written consent of the respective owners. YouTube reserves all rights not expressly granted in and to the Website and the Content." hahaha Okay, why do I say this Video DownloadHelper? Because it traces the place from which the video streams (e.g.: vxx.lscache2.c.youtube.com) since YouTube 'downloads' the content (as I've said before), downloading from it's direct link does work.
I know, they do filter 'uploaded' videos seriously. This is why one can get "This video contains content from [some third party], who has decided to block it." and even if the audio track, "This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by [some third party (mostly Warner Music Group (WMG)]. The audio has been disabled." But I'm asking about the people who are watching/downloading and not people who are uploading.
Well, YouTube did take actions against TechCrunch, one of the famous technology sites/blogs. It provided a free download app but

But what can you say about this public propaganda: YouTube Downloader - the most popular YouTube Downloader
"Orbit Downloader is the most popular YouTube Downloader chosen by millions of people."
"Orbit Downloader's Grab Pro break YouTube's anti-leeching technology (note!). Never miss YouTube using Orbit Downloader as YouTube downloader from now on!"
You can see many and many sites like youtube.com here: Orbit Rich Media Downloader:download social video, music streaming media, rtmp and more...Pandora,YouTube,Yahoo,Myspace,Dailymotion,R apidShare...
It boasts that it can even download videos from Dailymotion: Dailymotion Downloader - the most popular Dailymotion Downloader
Somebody having enough guts to try? It uses P2P File sharing!!
Yeah, they do 'change' their technologies (both YouTube and don't forget (!): the downloaders/download helpers!) often. But of no use practically!
Note: I am NOT using that addon and I'm NOT downloading, just a thought. That's all! Since I'm having enough patience to stream every time and also using a broadband connection (more than 10 mbps a.k.a. more than 1280 mBps!) I can watch directly without downloading. Thank you guys! Sorry for being very much detailed.
