WPA2 now highly advisable for ALL WIFI users

WPA/TKIP (Wi-Fi Protected Access/Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) were stopgap measures designed many years ago against what were the current attacks at the time. But the real solution was WPA2 and AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), both of which have been required for several years now in order to get the "Wi-Fi" logo on a product.
Up until several months ago, the only WPA2 enabled wireless access points in my neighborhood were my 2 routers and several other routers setup by me. Since then, several other WPA2 setups have now become evident. Those other users that could enable or update to WPA2 are now highly advised to seek that as a minimum option.

The use of anything less than WPA2 in high traffic public access WIFI locations (libraries, airports, Hotels, universities) is now considered MOSTLY highly inadvised and unnecessarily risky. I now use a portable $50 WIFI router (LINKSYS no antena) when travelling, where possible, to access less secure routers or to initially connect via cable wire.

    That's a great idea!
