RUNDLL error message
When i start my computer and it boots up, on loading up my profile on xp the following message appears:
RUNDLL
error loading c:\windows\qtwain.dll the specified module could not be found
could anyone tell me what this means and how to get rid of it, i have been on other forums and some say it is a virus telling me to download "Anti Mabutu-EN". on scanning my system with this 3 trojan horses tried to attack my computer.
Any advice would be greatfully received.

Read the Hijack This Logs post at the top of the forum. Run the mentioned programs and post a Hijack This log as per the instructions contained in that post.

Below I have pasted my Hijack This log. Please can someone have a look at it for me. I keep getting the following message when I boot up my PC: Error loading c:\windows\qtwain.dll The specified module could not be found. I don't know what this is, but I found some info on the net that suggested it maybe related to a virus, so I downloaded some software they suggested and three Trojans tried to attack my PC, so got very confused. Please can someone check my log below. Thankyou very much.

Click Fix Checked
Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.
Delete the following files and folders:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\syslray.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\moniker.exe
Reboot
Run an online virus scan at Housecall. Let it remove any infections it finds.
Reboot and post a fresh log
-
OK. I followed your instructions and did everything except delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\syslray.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\moniker.exe
Could not spot them. Ran Housecall and it found nothing. Plus when I rebooted out of safe mode the rundll message did not appear, which hopefully is a good sign.
I have posted my new log below, so please let me know if there is anything else i need to do or get rid of.
Thankyou :-)

Thats a clean log, how are things running?
-
Things are running a little slow to be honest, for example when i click on the start button the menu doesnt come up instantly and then stutters when it tries to display the list all the programmes.
I am using a very small amount of the hard drive, my computer is a year old and it has a fast processor. i have run spybot, adaware and the housecall scanners and have dealt with the items it brings up as a result of the scans, however this start menu still contiues to go slow. ANy ideas?
really appreciate all your help so far, thanks a lot
