Hi, not an an adware expert and this CWS is really getting me down...I have tried Spysweeper, Pest Patrol, Spy Ferret and Spyware Doctor....with no success with either one. Spysweeper recognizes and gives a location and acts like it removes it but on a new sweep the CWS shows its ugly head again. I have been reading your post and I ran a Hijackthis scan, can you please provide further assistance. File below:

Thats a clean log there. Nothing wrong. Is it only Pest Patrol detecting it or have you actually seen your homepages being changed?
Pest Patrol doesn't detect it but Spysweeper does. On my first message I forgot to tell you that I performed a system restore to an earlier date before trying to use any spyware removal program, My bad - sorry. Should I restore the sytem back to the day I had the browser Hijack? and then try a log. The adware is -Originally Posted by owen

I'm concerned because at the time of the Hijack it knew my IP address. I think I should be worried about this.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated and thanks for your support.
Download, update and run
CWShredder
Click Fix, don't just scan. Let it fix everything it asks about.
Download Ad-aware from: http://www.lavasoft.de/res/aaw6.exe
Install the program and launch it.
First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.
Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window
1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:
Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :
Scan Within Archives
Scan Active Processes
Scan Registry
Deep Scan Registry
Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
Scan my Hosts file
Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
All of your hard drives
Click on Proceed to save the settings.
Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:
Use Custom Scanning Options
Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.
When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).
If everything is running O.K. after rebooting then turn system restore off then back on. This will delete your previous restore points and create a new 'good' one. If things aren't running well then post a new HijackThis log back here.
Did what you said... Still no luck, CWS is still showing up with spysweeper, here is Hijack this log.. Will formatting the harddrive help?

If CWShredder found nothing and you're searchpage isn't being redirected then don't worry. Use Adaware and Spybot instead of spysweeper, also:
To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard and IE/Spyad.
SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
More info and download is available at:
SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
SpywareGuard: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html
IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It is free.
More info and download is available at:
