Email contacts have been hijacked by trojan(?)

    Hi,

A series of emails have been sent from my mail.com contact list without any input from myself. This happened after I received an email from a colleague which was suspect & which I didn't open. I think my contact list has been compromised by a trojan.

    Help please!

    Roger

Is this web based email program or regular email program?
Are those fake emails listed in "Sent" folder?

    Hi Broni,

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2010 as my email program. There are NO fake emails in the "sent" folder

    Regards

In that case, most likely, someone else computer who has your address in their address book is infected.

    Hi again Broni,

What steps, if any, can I take to stop the problem?

    Regards

There is really not much you can do.
If you gave your email address to some limited number of people you can contact them and warn them about possible infection lurking on their computer.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
No because it's not about your computer.
