I'm having trouble running a powerful program called Pro Show Producer. Especially creating an ISO image of my slideshow. It has been suggested that I may have too many processes running. I had 100 and then turned everything off using myconfig and got it down to 48, but I still could not produce the ISO image.

As I read through the processes running I don't know what to delete. I'm sure many programs do not need to load every time I start my PC. I have virus protection so I don't think I have malware, etc.

I don't see any excessive number of startups, but...
You're running two AV programs, AVG and Norton.
One of them has to go.
If AVG, use AVG Remover: AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Tools download
If Norton, use this: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

I should be only be running AVG and Norton Ghost. I don't believe I have a Norton virus program.

What actual problems do you have with the program in question?

I was having problems with Pro Show Producer a slide show creation show that uses lots of PC power to handle both pictures, audio and text. The show was crashing and the techs thought I had too many processes running and it was the cause. As it turned out I had a corrupt slide and once removed I was able to complete the ISO image file and complete my project.

However, now I'm concerned that perhaps I should cut down on the processes that are running. I show about 85 with no programs on. Others told me their computer showed fewer processes running in Task Manager.

So I'm looking into the issue.

I really don't see anything unnecessary running.
Normally, processes should be left alone, unless a computer specs are poor, which is not your case.
85 processes is nothing extraordinary on Vista.
