Driver_Irql_Not_Less_Or_Equal error
Ok so this is a blue screen error with lots of solutions on the web so bear with me.
I have been fixing pc's/laptops for the past 7 years and have seen this error twice
before. One was an overheat issue and one was a memmory prob.
I now work in a small pc repair shop in southern Ireland.
In the past 9 days I have 6 pc's with this same blue screen error.
4 are dell inspiron lappy's.1 is a dell desktop.1 is an emachine lappy.
All are xp pro.3 are sp 2,3 are sp3.
2 arrived live ie we could boot to the desktop but both had fake anti-virus malware probs like security tools 2010 and AntiVirus 2010. We removed the drives and ran Malware and Kyspersky. Both found a a couple of trojans and blaster worms but once back in their hosts both would not boot, not even in safe mode, both stalling at isapnp.sys
the rest arrived clearing post but not booting at all.
we got nevous at this point and changed tactic.
On the latest, dell inspiron 1200 with xp sp3, we ran chkdsk /p, and were able to boot into safe mode. But on reboot into normal desktop it began to load desktop but suddenly got the blue screen of deaTH with Driver_Irql_not_less_or_equal errors.
We noticed that all the machines so far had Mcafee either expired or still with Mcafee components left. Every time we reboot we get a stall after post on either safe or normall mode but on running checkdsk we can at least get to safe mode.
While in safe mode we bagan to think that maybe something was loading that was causing the error. In the start-->programmes-->startup entry we found, along with the usual entries $McReboot A5E6DEAA56$.
When we searched this we found it linked straight to system32/cmd which makes no sense.
When we deleted this entry from startup we killed the machine i.e. even running chkdsk from a boot cd meant we couldn,t boot to safe or normal mode...it just stalls after post.
Due to the large volume of machines we deal with it is only now that we are starting to log the problems so I cant post much info on the machines that are effected but any questions will be answered.
What I know is this.
Of the one machine,Dell inspiron 1200 with xp sp3, that we have not run anti-v on is...
from the Mcafee logs there are NO entries in the log files what so ever except in the inbound network. All the rest are clear even though it is registered till 5/2010.
On the inbound it shows intense activity on 16/01/2010 on tcp port 113 in and around the same time 22.30 but especially from eurtrust-gw.rosprint.net and a couple of udp probes but all in a 15 min period.
Please dont post links to other sites that relate to the Driver_Irql....error as I have been to most allready and all are outside of the present time frame. I am eager to hear from people who have had the same error in the past 6 months and what their solutions were.
The mathematicall odd of 6 machines in a couple of days points to something new.
Any help would be cool.
with respect,

I doubt, anyone would be able to answer your questions without taking a look at one machine at a time.
It could be driver issue, or an infection issue.
Every computer is different.
