The "new" personal anivirus program this now on my desktop keeps sending me popups from my tray at the bottom and they say I have the following viruses/worms - do I uninstall this program? I know I didn't download it to my desktop...My kids are telling me that they didn't download it - (which is questionaable) I don't know how it got there.
Is it typical that "off the wall" anti virus software would tell you have a virus ....just to give you a virus?? Obviously, I'm sceptical.

The "new" personal anivirus program is obviously some rogue program, and it surely didn't jump in there by some miracle (kids?).

See, if you can uninstall it, or we have to re-run some scans.
If you can uninstall it, post fresh HJT, when you're done.

I can't uninstall the Personal Antivirus, its not listed in the program files (unless its under a different name). I deleted the shortcut, but it won't go away from the tray area. I tried to right click on it and delete it out of the tray, but it won't do anything. Any ideas?? I posted another hijack log.

    Yeah, we'll need to re-scan....

    Print these instructions out.

NOTE. If any of the programs listed below refuse to run, try renaming executive file to something else; for instance, rename hijackthis.exe to scanner.exe

***VERY IMPORTANT! Make sure, you update Superantispyware, and Malwarebytes before running the scans.***

STEP 1. Download SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users:
    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    * Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
    * An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
