[Resolved] Personal Antivirus
Ok my neighbor asked me to fix her virus problem. Upon startup she gets a pop up & a notice that she has a trojan [screen shot of notice available]. Computer isn't really that slow but it is quite annoying. I'm having to do this is safe mode because this is blocking several sites including this one which is really
annoying!!! First HJT below & uninstall list. I'm about to install malwarabytes & SB S&D as well as avira & run scans. Will post logs & new HJT in next reply. I have removed her expired trial of mcafee.

HJT done in normal mode with AV software installed, just in case you need it. Avira won't update & I can't get wireless to work. I don't know if either are related. I didn't try wireless in safe mode though. Also I had killed the program before running the HJT scan. The file is C:\Program Files\PersonalAV\pav.exe. It is the only file in there.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
- Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
- Close any open browsers.
- Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
- Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
- Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
NOTE. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
- Close any open browsers.
- WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
- Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
- If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
- Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
- When finished, it will produce a report for you.
- Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**
Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.
DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!

Unfortunatly now I can't connect to the internet either by lan or wireless even in safe mode (with networking) on that computer; diagnostics thinks that there is a problem with the drivers or devices. So use the restore point? Has combofix been known to do that? I tried with several reboots. The first time I got an error stating something to the effect that there was an illegal call to a registry marked for deletion. After a reboot I didn't get that error.
Also Combofix warned me that Mcafee was enabled yet I had uninstalled it & ran that cleaner.

Something strange happened so I accidentally double posted. Disregard.

I don't see anything removed by Combofix, which could cause connection problems.
Try cold reboot. While computer off, disconnect router and modem from power source for 1 minute.
