Hijack This Log - phast2 - Being redirected (RESOLVED)
Here are my issues:
1. I have the latest Spybot S&D installed and the resident part appears to be running in my system tray, but I cannot open the program and run a manual scan. (Maybe there is no manual scan I'm supposed to run, I'm not sure.)
2. I have the latest Ad-Aware installed and I ran a complete scan of my system and hard drives, and it reported no problems.
3. I have the latest Avast anti-virus and I've run a few scans. Yesterday, it detected about 4 bad files and I either deleted them or moved them to the chest. The latest scans I've run have found nothing. Earlier scans found signs of "JS:Pdfka-MQ [Trj]", "Win32:MalOb-G[Cryp]" and "Win32:Fraudo [Trj]".
My problems are:
4. I will Google something and then click on one of the results links and I am sometimes, but not always, redirected to some other completely unrelated website.
5. I then click the "Back" button and I sometimes, but not always, end up staying on the same website. It doesn't actually go "Back" to the Google results page.
6. I click the "History" down arrow next to the "Back" and "Forward" buttons and I sometimes, but not always, see entries in the History for "OpenDNS" and "Redirect".
7. I am also now seeing a prompt window pop up asking me to install "Online Protection Tool" from Publisher "Microsoft Windows". I fear that this is just another bogus virus or malware of some kind, so I have not actually installed it - I just 'X' out of any windows or prompts like that.
Here is my Hijack This log:

Two adawares means one is for ad-watch and one for adaware antispyware program is my guess.
I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:- Run Spybot-S&D
- Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
- On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
- Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.
Real time monitoring programs can interfer with the cleanup of your computer. It is advisable that you temporarilly disable those programs before cleaning and then enable after the cleanup is completed.
Ad-Aware Ad-Watch
1. Right click on the Ad-Watch icon in the system tray and select "Restore Ad-Watch".
2. At the bottom of the screen there will be two checkable items called "Active" and "Automatic".
Active: Switches Monitoring On or Off without closing
Automatic: Switches Automatic Blocking On or Off
3. Uncheck (red X) both items.
Run hijackthis and click on "scan system only" button and put checks next to these:
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.149,85.255.112.214
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.149,85.255.112.214
Please close ALL browser windows (including this one).
Everything closed out but hijackthis and click on "fix checked"
Reboot your PC
* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and zLaunch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Here are my newest problems:
1. As stated in my original message, I am unable to run Spybot S&D in order to disable TeaTimer. The resident part of Spybot S&D was "running" in my system tray, but I was unable to "open" it or get to "Advanced Mode," etc. So, I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and unchecked the TeaTimer option during the install. This still didn't matter, as I still cannot "run" Spybot from the desktop icon or from the Start->All Programs menu (from Windows XP Service Pack 3).
2. I do not have an Ad-Watch icon in the system tray, only Ad-Aware. When I right-click on Ad-Aware in the system tray, I do see a "Disable Ad-Watch Live" menu option, but that's it. I do not see a "Restore Ad-Watch" option.
3. I was able to run HiJackThis with the "scan system only" option and I got rid of the two "017" lines with the NameServer=<ip addresses> values.
4. I was able to download and install the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware program, but, after installing, it will not run. When I double-click on the desktop icon, or select it from the Start->All Programs menu, the main menu GUI interface never comes up. (See #1 above, where I am also unable to "run" Spybot S&D.)
Very frustrating!
Here's my latest HiJackThis scan:

And one more problem:
5. I am getting those Vimax "Surprise her with a bigger penis" ads showing up on the right-hand panel of many websites (including Hotmail) that I visit.
-
Try renameing MBAM to something else by right clicking the icon on desktop and select rename and rename it bunny.exe and try to get it to run like that.
If that doesn't work then...
Download Combofix from any of the links below. You must rename it before saving it. Save it to your desktop.
Link 1
Link 2
Disable all security programs(virus, antispyware that you can)

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Double click on Combo-Fix.exe & follow the prompts.- When finished, it will produce a report for you.
- Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a HijackThis log so we can continue cleaning the system.
-
OK, renaming MBAM to bunny.exe did the trick, so I did NOT do the ComboFix thing.
Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware have been removed from the system (for now). I am still running Avast anti-virus.

I should be around all day Wednesday (on and off), so we can hopefully go back and forth a couple of times during the day, if necessary. Thanks again for your help so far.

Forgot to mention that, after all of the above, I rebooted and checked my Google searches again. I am still getting "Redirect" and "OpenDNS" errors in my Browser history list. I am using Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13 (Cipher strength=128-bit).

Let's go ahead and run the combofix:
Visit this page below to familiarize yourself to the tool below and download from one of the links provided.
A guide and tutorial on using ComboFix
If you have previously downloaded ComboFix,please delete that version now.
It is IMPORTANT that it is saved directly to your desktop
Close any open browsers.
Disconnect from the Internet.
Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
Disable your antivirus program and any realtime malware scanners and script blockers now
How To Disable
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.
Re-enable your anti-virus and re-connect back to the internet and post the combofix log.
*Note*
In case your Antivirus or any other realtime scanner is displaying an alert after you downloaded Combofix or while you use Combofix, please disable your scanner and redownload Combofix again.
Some scanners may see some combofix related components as suspicious and block or delete them while there's nothing wrong with them.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper.

By the way, forgot to mention that a quick tour of my system seems to indicate that the "bad things" have been eliminated. (Too soon to say for 100% sure, though, I would think.) My Google browsing appears normal, with no weird Redirects or OpenDNS in the History list. Also no more Vimax penis ads all over my other web pages.
I know that ComboFix reported finding and deleting a couple of things so, hopefully, that was it. Can you tell from the ComboFix log if it really found and fixed some "bad stuff"?
Thanks.
